I'm confused
i'm still confused about when i should use a regular salvage kit and when i should use an expert kit?
meanwhile, i have a war hammer of fortitude. i thought this is the kind of weapon to use an expert kit on. however i get a message saying this item is not salvagable. also, one of my characters has a barbed ascalon razor of charrslaying. it is customized for that character. can another character of mine use it or just the original character. can that weapon be salvaged? or because it is customized it is junk now? |

If you have a weapon that is non-salvagable, it is because you received it from a collector.
If you customize a weapon, it will be only usable by that character, not any of your others. Customization doesn't affect the ability to salvage an item. And again.. if for some reason it tells you it's non-salvagable, it is because the item was received from a collector (as opposed to a mob drop), not because you customized it. |

To answer your first question...
1. Reg Salvage Kits on "White" items 2. Expert on Blue, Purple and Gold items (note: some items are worth more if you sell to another player, anything with +Health is sought after.) |

... and since you're asking questions about Salvage vs Expert Salvage, it may be worth mentioning that you should ALWAYS use and Identification Kit on anything marked Unidentified. If you are lucky and are able to identify an upgrade in the weapon, you'll be glad you did.

Also any Hides or armors use an expert kit that way you can posibly get fur, leather, or silk depending on what you salvage.

You'll find Celdor that at some point as you progress, you basically stop buying regular salvage kits and only buy expert. Might sound strange (or expensive) to you right now, but soon you'll see that the only things worth salvaging are items that require EXPERT salvage.
Just because an item is blue in color doesn't necessarily signify you should salvage/expert salvage it. Only if the item has an upgrade in it (ie War Hammer OF DEFENSE, or CRUEL Longsword) would you might consider using expert salvage to try to take out the upgrade.. if the upgrade is pretty worthless then just sell the item to the merchant and save the money on the salvage kits.. Hope that helps. |
